Run Kitty

Many artists struggle while trying to create a since of movement in their work. I think Kara hit the nail on the head with her interpretation of a kitty running REALLY REALLY fast!

Poppies

This is another piece for artwalk. The poppy's meaning in art and literature covers everything from eternal sleep(as in the Wizard of Oz), to resurrection. In Chinese art the poppy symbolizes loyalty and faith among lovers.... In Flanders Fields the poppies blow ...See you soon...T

In Rare Form

24x36 Acrylic on Canvas
I will be showing a few new and a few old pieces at Artwalk this Friday. In Rare Form is a new one. It makes me wish I  knew how to sew . I admire people who have the skill and patience to create wearable art with needle, thread and a square of fabric. Maybe it's time to dust off the Singer....T

Broad Street Light

8x10 Acrylic on Canvas
Buy this painting click here

Like all things in Mobile this light is embraced by the branches of a live oak. Both the tree and the street light are right next to my balcony. I think the lights were installed as part of the " Bring Back Broad" initiative. They really do help unite the more urban parts of Oakleigh with the rest of the neighborhood...T

Sorry I didn't post on Wednesday. I was working on a portrait for a show at the Semmes Library. I turned it in before it was photographed. The reception is tonight from 6:00-7:00. Drop by if you get a chance. Today I am working on a commission that needs to be finished. So, I thought I would share this painting with you. It is another last minute- need something for a show- piece. I think working under pressure allows for that loose painterly quality that I love. The colors also work very well in this painting. I'm off to photograph the sky. See you soon...T

Boy! Who knew snapdragons would be so tricky? I admit I struggled a little with this but all came out well in the end. It is nice to be playing with impressionism again. I have just finished an abstract marathon for my show at the University of South Alabama. It opened September first and will be on display through the end of October. I have started painting this years angels and will be posting samples and ordering information soon. I found out this morning a local artist is copying my faceless angels. What a great complement!

Odd Man Out

I know that typical daily paintings are done on mini canvases. I don't like to always be confined to such a small space. I think 16x20 is a size that everyone can enjoy. Depending on how it is displayed it can have as much or as little presence in a room as you desire. the pairs were a good combination of frustration and fun to paint this morning. I hope you like them...T
